April Updates

April showers, bring May flowers… that is if you’re prepping your garden for the coming season! We will have tips below on how to prep your plot for a bountiful harvest, but first here’s what we were up to during the month of April:

  • In the month of April we donated 370 meals, along with various dry goods, and fresh produce worth $2,295. Thank you to our chef and commercial partners for their continued support and in-kind donations!
  • We are partnering with other nonprofit organizations to find a suitable property for the eco-village. This property will serve as a clearinghouse for goods and services that residents require on a daily basis, such as a central kitchen, laundry, a bulk-goods “refill” store and more. The Harbeson-Milton area looks promising!
  • Cass has been working with the Volunteer Garden Site hosts to prepare each of their sites for planting in early May. All the sites have been prepped to some degree and our volunteers are ready to take the plunge…into the earth 😉

A special Thank You to Perrin Smith, the Director of the Lewes Community Garden for supplying us the volunteers to help with our garden there, and the extra plants!

Mini Home Greenhouses can boost your harvest! This prototype made of upcycled and inexpensive materials can be used personally or, invite your neighbors to pitch in on a new adventure together. Let us show you how!
Ready-meals ready to go! Thank you to all our donors and volunteers for helping us in our mission to combat food insecurity right here in our own community
Volunteer Garden Sites are a great way to get to know your local ecosystem! Learn all about what grows great and where with the ultimate home experiment – gardening! Fun for the whole family and a great way to get kids to eat their veggies all summer long.
