Welcome to our April newsletter! As spring blooms, we are happy to share the longer days with our volunteers who work elbow to elbow with us in the kitchen and the donors who keep our shelves stocked and gas in our tanks. In the month of April, we received $12,592 in contributions which we collected and supplemented into an incredible $24,754 worth of donations. This allowed us to create and deliver a tremendously helpful 4,238 meals to community members in need. Your support means so much to us, both your actions and in your kindness. The long cold days of winter might be over, but together we can warm the hearts of our neighbors in need.

Thanks to VegWinterFest for the fabulous event.
We hope to see you at the next one!

Agency for Older Adults and People with Disabilities to be Shuttered Under HHS Cuts
On Thursday, the federal Department of Health and Human Services moved to eliminate the Administration for Community Living (ACL), a subsidiary established in 2012 to support disabled and aging people—part of a broader series of cuts that will see the firing of some 10,000 HHS staff.
A central part of ACL’s purpose has been oversight of state protection and advocacy agencies for disabled people, providing grants for approved independent living centers, support for employment programs for disabled people, and assistance with adult protective services—all with the goal of helping disabled and aging people live successfully within their communities.
In fiscal 2022, the ACL provided more than 261 million meals to older adults, assistance such as respite care to more than 1.5 million family caregivers, and independent-living services to nearly 250,000 people with disabilities. Dismantling the Administration for Community Living — an agency that provides assistance so seniors can stay in their homes, access medical care, and support for essential programs like Meals on Wheels and local senior centers — is short-sighted and harmful to a secure quality of life.
However you feel about this, members of your community will need your help. Please consider a recurring donation to the TAPTF Society through our website. Recurring donations allow us to count on your donation every month and supports our kitchen with every day needs. Consider donating your time to us, or to any local organization. Let us know if you need help finding the right atmosphere for you, we have so many partners who would love to have your skills! All folks with a willingness to learn are welcome, simply reply to this email.
