Welcome to the Teach a Person to Fish Society’s September Newsletter! We hope you all had a wonderful long weekend with your friends and families, but somehow it’s back to school time already.

If you happen to spot any back to school Buy One, Get One Free sales, keep your local community resource centers and donation centers in mind. Keeping one item and donating the other might give families in need a little breathing room at a tough time of the year. Good luck in the coming school year and may your pencils be as sharp as your minds!

In the month of August, the TAPTF Society volunteers cooked up some incredible donations. We received $11,308 in contributions which, after our additional resources, we turned into a donation of $19,655 worth of cooked food, dry goods, produce and vegetables. This brings the grand total of meals delivered in the month of August to an astonishing 3,116 servings of freshly prepared and ready to eat meals delivered to food pantries, community centers, and people in need in Sussex County. We cannot thank you enough, our donors and volunteers, for what you’re helping us do. The recovery, redistribution and real impact of our mission grows with your help every day and it means so much to us to have your support.

The Teach A Person to Fish Society would like to give a big Welcome and Thank You to our friends at the Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Congregations.  LRAC supports local ministry and agency partners working to alleviate homelessness and hunger in the Cape Henlopen School District and Sussex County. They support several of our partners locally, such as the Community Resource Center, West Side New Beginnings, and many more awesome organizations that we work with every week.

We want to deeply thank LRAC for the grant that we recently received that will allow us to continue to rescue produce, reduce waste, and redistribute meals to our Sussex County community members in need. Having the support of LRAC means a lot to us, and to be recognized by an organization that already has so many tremendous partnerships within the community really reminds us that we are moving in the right direction. We appreciate the financial aid and we can’t wait to show you all what a big impact it will make for us.
